November 2016 saw Quintessentially organise The Barbican Ball, London’s ultimate costume ball, in aid of The Barbican Trust. This hugely popular fundraiser took inspiration this year from The Vulgar exhibition, a narrative of fashion redefined, which saw 400 guests dawning their most outrageous and tasteless outfits and take part in an extraordinary evening of entertainment in aid of The Barbican’s creative learning programme. Highlights included a live catwalk, The Boudoir photo booth, The Vulgar Arcade, promenade performances by Boy Blue and Civilised Mess.
An awesome five room design set from Christopher Mills, combined with stunning scale projections from Zsolt Balogh, wowed guests as extraordinary drag queens adorned with feathers and diamonds “sissy walked” guests to their individually Vulgar-styled dining tables. Throughout the evening guests took part in a silent auction, the actor Tom Wilkinson hosted the live auction and the after party with Leo Green Band and DJ Philly rounded off another tremendous occasion. Many thanks to Great Hire, Rare Food, Emperor & Box Events.
