A successful charity event requires a huge amount of work to produce. Not only do you need to ensure it includes a spectacular night of entertainment to justify the ticket price, but you must also effectively inspire those attending to dig deeper for the cause on the night. The Final Flight Ball, hosted at The Hurlingham Club, was held in honour of Richard Farquhar whose tireless efforts and endurance saw him walk between all 60 racecourses across Great Britain for his Walking The Courses fundraiser. Quintessentially Events was behind the production of this prestigious event, harnessing resources to help raise over £100,000 on the night alone via a silent auction, a nail-biting live auction and many other fun-filled activities throughout the evening.
The night was held in aid of two charities very close to the Farquhar family’s heart; Pancreatic Cancer UK and Racing Welfare. The former is the only national charity to be fighting pancreatic cancer on all fronts, from the fundamental support needed by patients and their families, right through to the invaluable research so desperately required to advance treatment. Meanwhile, Racing Welfare provides professional guidance and practical help to the unseen army of dedicated staff whose work is vital in maintaining flawless standards across horse racing.
Micropig races, complete with little silk jerseys, provided a wonderfully fun and effective form of fundraising, raising over £8000 alone in a sweepstake which saw three lucky winners walk away with fabulous prizes donated by Veuve Clicquot. The gifted Alicia Lowes performed the official charity single backed by Urban Soul Orchestra, followed by DJ Doug Marshall whose late night session, packed with classic floor-filling tracks, had everyone up on their feet. As the President of Racing Welfare and guest of honour, HRH Princess Anne delivered a rousing speech and appeared positively thrilled to be part of this great evening of celebration, in the name of such a worthy cause.
